The Warriors Path: The Fomorian Trials

The Warriors Path: The Fomorian Trials is a single player adventure game. It is set in 300 BC Éire (known today as Ireland). The main character Domhnal MacDhaboc, also known as Domhnal The Fierce, returns home from a quest to find that his country had been taken over by the Fomorians. His new quest now is to defeat the Fomorians and regain control of the Éire.

Through the game’s introduction cut scene, it is revealed that the High King of Éire, Brennus MacDhaboc, has sent brother, Domhnal, away on a quest. While Domhnal is away King Brennus is challenged to a duel by Tiernan Rìgh Dorcha, the dark king of the Fomorians. During this battle King Brennus loses his right hand and is no longer able to fight ad must turn over the kingdom to the dark king.

The game play begins with the return of Domhnal to Éire. He has found out from talking to fishermen in the port that the Fomorians now rule Éire and King Brennus is missing. Domhnal takes off on a journey through Éire, first to find his brother and collect information, while fighting Fomorian demons along the way. During the journey he meets Siobhan who becomes his companion and helps him to fight the Fomorians. Her family was killed by Fomorians and she is out for vengeance. Their end goal is to find their way into Tiernan’s stronghold and defeat him to regain the kingdom and the honor of their family.

Each piece of information the player finds will provide direction to a new location or a new quest. Completing quests will gain skills and experience for the character as will gaining more information about the enemy. In the primary quest, everything will be done in a specific order to get to the end. However, each side quest can be done in any particular order and will lead to other side quests that will help Domhnal gain experience. The player will be able to choose Domhnal’s primary fighting skill; sword, spear, archery, etc. The player will be able to level up the skill to be able to do the most damage while all other fighting skills will be secondary and tertiary skills and not as strong. Different equipment and gear obtained throughout the gameplay will allow the character to gain other skills, but most can only be found on side quests.

In some parts of the game play, the player will also play as Siobhan. This will allow the player to chose Siobhan’s primary skill and help her gain experience and the ability to level up. Some equipment can be shared between Siobhan and Domhnal, but most will be specific to each character. Siobhan will also help increase Domhnal’s storage capabilities and increase his fighting strength as his companion.
